Get started with Farsi Nevis for Mac
Farsi Nevis for Mac lives in your menu bar. Press a shortcut in almost any app, type Pinglish (also called Finglish), and get Farsi — then copy it or insert it where you were typing. It needs macOS 14 or later.
Install from the Mac App Store
- Open the App Store on your Mac and search for "Farsi Nevis" (or «فارسی نویس»).
- Click Get, then Install. If you already have Farsi Nevis on your iPhone or iPad, the button may show a download icon instead.
- Open Farsi Nevis. A short welcome guide walks you through the shortcut and Insert. Farsi Nevis has no Dock icon — look for its icon in the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Open the panel
Press Option-Space (⌥ Space) in almost any app, or click the Farsi Nevis icon in the menu bar. Press the shortcut again to hide the panel.
To change the shortcut, open Settings… → Shortcut from the menu bar icon and record a new one. It needs ⌘, ⌥, or ⌃, and shortcuts macOS already uses (such as ⌘ Space) can't be chosen.
Type Pinglish, get Farsi
Type in the top half of the panel and the Farsi appears below as you type. Most words convert right on your Mac.
A word with a dotted underline has alternatives: click it to choose another spelling, an emoji, or keep the Latin.
Copy or Insert
- Copy puts the Farsi on your clipboard, ready to paste anywhere. It always works.
- Insert (⌘ ↩) pastes the Farsi straight into the app you came from. macOS asks you to allow Farsi Nevis under Accessibility first.
Allow Insert (Accessibility)
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility.
- Click + (or drag the app into the list) and choose Farsi Nevis from Applications. The app may not appear in the list on its own.
- Switch it on. Farsi Nevis notices the change by itself.
Farsi Nevis uses Accessibility only to paste the text you chose into the app you came from. If you'd rather paste yourself, turn off Insert's auto-paste in Settings… → Insert — Insert then only copies.
More ways to convert
- From the right-click menu. Select Pinglish text in almost any app, right-click, and choose Services → Convert Pinglish to Farsi.
- From your clipboard. Copied some Pinglish? Click the menu bar icon and choose Convert Clipboard.
Dictation, translation, and AI writing tools
The buttons at the top of the panel give you:
- Dictation — click the mic and speak Farsi; your words appear as you talk. The first time, macOS asks for microphone access.
- Translation — translate the Farsi into 12 languages.
- AI writing tools — Improve, Proofread, Friendly, Professional, Concise, or Summarize. Farsi Nevis asks for your consent once before it sends any text.
All three need an internet connection and come with a free monthly allowance on your Mac. Farsi Nevis Pro makes them unlimited.
Farsi Nevis Pro on your Mac
One Pro purchase covers your iPhone, iPad, and Mac when they use the same Apple ID. Already Pro on another device? Open Settings… → Pro on your Mac and click Restore Purchases.
Settings
From the menu bar icon, choose Settings… to:
- Switch the interface between English and Farsi
- Pick a menu bar icon (Dark and Gold come with Pro)
- Launch Farsi Nevis at login
- See your usage — it combines with your iPhone or iPad when you're signed in to iCloud
Troubleshooting
- Insert only copies. Check that Farsi Nevis is switched on in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility. If it's on but Insert still doesn't paste, remove it from the list with −, add it again with +, and switch it on.
- The shortcut does nothing. Another app may be using the same shortcut. Pick a different one in Settings… → Shortcut.
- Can't find Farsi Nevis? Look for its icon in the menu bar. On a crowded menu bar the icon can be hidden behind the camera notch — the shortcut still opens the panel.
- Dictation doesn't start. Allow the microphone in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone, and check your internet connection.
